Hi - I am geekgirl2
How old are you, were are you from? 40 years, from Sydney Australia
When did you find out that you couldn’t do what others could? Always knew I could not do stuff with numbers, it is like my brain cannot process that kind of information
What is/was school like? Very bad, teachers thought I was misbehaving as I was clearly a smart child. They could not understand why I 'would not' do math
When and were did you hear about dyscalculia for the first time, and did your life change after that? How? Heard about it a few years ago & realised that is what I have
What symptoms do you have? I recognise numbers, but cannot process number or geometric patterns, or do mental arithmetic. I cannot hold more than 3-4 numbers in my short term memory
I also have attention deficit disorder - doctors are not sure how much of this relates to the dyscalculia
What irritates you the most about your disability? I cannot tell if I get the right change in the shop easily
What do you work with or want to work with? I work in IT and mainly in software development projects
And for me; what is missing on this page about dyscalculia? And what could I do better? Great site - not many people know about this!!!!!

Hi gg2, welcome Where did you hear about dyscalculia? Nope, not a lot of people know this page, but I'm mailing like crazy to everyone I could think would have an interest in dyscalculia ;D Thanks (I actually just made it better this night, worked for hours and hours finding new links and made a new page with links to articles... and then I was about to upload all the pages, and then I found out that freewebs is updating their service for a day or 2... Argh! Oh well, I guess it can wait )

Hi I found out about D on the web a few years ago when researching ADHD & co-morbid conditions. But there is not much info out there nor are there really good diagnostic techniques. regards gg2

Nope, not a lot of info out there... But I find comfort in the fact that I believe that this is just a matter of years, just like dyslexia. But only if we keep on telling everybody about dyscalculia's existence
